a. Set the Lord Shiva statue or image on a clean surface or pedestal.
Invocation: 1. Face the idol or image while sitting comfortably.
a. To start, close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths to relax your body and mind.
b. To summon Lord Shiva, recite the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" or your other favourite mantra.

b. Holding a small amount of water in your right hand, scatter it all around the puja area.
c. Present Lord Shiva with new flowers, betel leaves, and almonds.
d. Apply sandalwood paste to the Lord Shiva statue or image.
e. Present milk, panchamrit, and ghee to the god.
Pouring water, milk, and panchamrit over an image or idol of Lord Shiva is known as abhishek (bathing the deity).

Aarti: a. Gently turn the puja thali clockwise in front of the deity while holding the puja thali with the lit diya.
b. Sing or recite the Shiva-dedicated aarti.
